About this opportunity
Our client, offers specialty property, casualty, and life reinsurance products through reinsurance intermediaries on a global scale. The Senior Actuary will assist in pricing both North American and International reinsurance business written by our client’s Bermuda office. The successful candidate will perform actuarial pricing and underwriting activities for the company in close collaboration with the EVP Underwriting & Risk.
Specific responsibilities include:
Lead maintenance and enhancement of actuarial pricing models and conduct comprehensive treaty pricing analysis for both new and renewal business across a diverse, multiline proportional and excess of loss treaty reinsurance portfolio
Prepare and present detailed quarterly and annual underwriting forecasts, providing important decision-making insights
Maintain and strengthen the company's processes, controls, and systems to improve policy pricing and accuracy of underwriting performance forecasts
Proactively engage with the cedent's reinsurance broker and representatives to ensure timely and accurate information exchange
Actively participate in meetings with the cedent to inform and improve underwriting decisions and exposure management strategies
Coordinate and execute comprehensive underwriting and claims audits
Conduct reviews of reinsurance contracts to ensure accuracy & alignment with terms authorized
Provide underwriting insights to support and contextualize various aspects of financial reporting
Undertake additional projects or responsibilities as may be required
What you’ll need
Associate or equivalent of either the Casualty Actuarial Society or the Institute of Actuaries, Fellowship preferred
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or a similar field
10+ years of (re)insurance actuarial experience gained in (re)insurer, actuarial firm, or accounting firm; focus on casualty and/or specialty lines strongly preferred
Proven, in-depth knowledge of reinsurance structures and reinsurance pricing and reserving techniques
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Proficiency in Excel macro building and SQL programming
Extensive experience with actuarial techniques, with a working knowledge of catastrophe modeling
Strong work ethic, with demonstrated ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines. Desire to learn and grow professionally in an energetic and entrepreneurial small team environment
